Parent Education Choice

The state of America's schools demand parents must become involved in the selction of their students schooling and involved in the process of education.

As business people are demanding a more scientific and technological student, educators are desparately searching  for new options to improve our educational results. Here are some options parents can choose from:

1.    Traditional  Public Neighborhood Schools

2.    Magnet Public School

also known as Science and Technology , Performing Arts and/or  College Prep schools

Specialty schools with academic criteria for admission

3.    Charter Schools

       also know as Academies

Schools chartered as individual school districts

4    Homeschooling

Schools soley operated by parents at home or at  with other home school parents

5.   Public Contracted Schools

also known as contract schools, alternative schools

     Schools for high school dropouts

6.   Tax Supported Scholarships

Vouchers to be used toward private or parochial school tuition

7.   Tuition Tax Credits and Deductions

Reduction of taxes offset by tuition spent  at  private  or parochial schools

8.   Cyber Schools

also known as virtual schools, online schools

Public Online curriculum to be used either at home or on school site

Most of these options are funded by the state education department, except home school. While these parents have chosen to exercise their rights as their child's first teacher, they have not gotten financial support until now.  Cyber schools offer the benefits of homeschool  and a traditional school. Students are able to receive their education at the home computer and attend  activites  at the school site. Best yet, the curriculum is paid for by the state department of education.

Many states, eighteen, to be exact have passed legislation to create these full time cyber schools. Several others  are pushing legislation to provide the cyber school option. Check to see if your state is considering this option. If your state is pushing legislation, contact your Senators and State Representatives to give it support to pass. If they are not, demand a consideration for the concept.
