Uplift, Inc. is currently working on  a year long project with Detroit School of Arts  Here is the testimony from the Principal Dr. Denise Davis - Cotton, "Ms. Byrd-Hill is currently serving as a facilitator for parents focused on math and science curriculum integration. She designs workshops carefully and works in collaboration with school and district staff to help parents help their children reach high academic goals according to their potentials. 1001    Let's Explore Your Child's Career

In order to reach a goal one must set one. Students need to know how to prepare for their career. Parents need to know how to discover their children’s talents to develop a career a path for them.

 

1002    Educational Development Plans

Educational Development Plans (EDP)s are written career development plans for students detailing career goal classes needed, ideal college or post secondary training. Ideally, students should have an EDP created in 6th grade no later than 8th grade. Workshop to assist parents to prepare an EDP.

Do you want to learn more about exciting free online activities and resources available? In this workshop you will learn to use the Internet as a tool for educational resources.

 

2004    Microsoft Word 1

This course is designed for those with little experience in Microsoft Office who desire to create a create, edit, format, lay out, and print standard business documents complete with tables and graphics.

 

2005    Microsoft Word 2

This course is designed for persons who can create and modify standard business documents in Microsoft Office Word , and who need to learn how to use Microsoft Office Word  to create or modify complex business documents as well as customized Word efficiency tools.

 

2006    Microsoft Excel 1

This course is designed for persons who desire to gain the skills necessary to create, edit, format, and print basic Microsoft® Office Excel 2003 worksheets.

 

2007    Microsoft Excel 2

This course is designed for students who desire to gain the skills necessary to create templates, sort and filter data, import and export data, analyze data, and work with Excel on the Web. Prerequisite:  Microsoft Excel 1

 

2008    Microsoft PowerPoint 1

This course is designed for students who are interested in learning the fundamentals needed to create and modify basic Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003 presentations.

 

2009    Microsoft PowerPoint 2

This course is designed for students who desire to gain the skills necessary to work with design templates, organizational charts, special effects, Web presentations, collaboration functionality, and advanced presentation delivery, Prerequisite:  Microsoft PowerPoint 1

 

2010    Internet Safety

This course discusses how to protect your student from internet predators. It also discusses many of the sites young people gravitate towards.

 

2011    Online Education and the Special Needs Child

This course discusses trends in online education and how this education may be better suited to assist the special needs child, with particular attention to austic and learning disabled students.

 

2012    Virtual Education - Personalized Education at its best

This course discusses virtual education and its growth worldwide and how it could improve the student’s educational experience.

3001    Grades – Passport to FREE/ Near FREE Global Journeys

This course provides information on researching, and securing global travel opportunities. There are so many opportunities for young people to travel the global for free or near free if they have grade point averages above a 2.5.

4003    High Demand Critical Thinking Skills depend on Science

This course discusses the importance of science in developing high demand  critical thinking and how students can succeed in science classes. The new economy requires employees and students to have high demand critical thinking skills to survive and thrive.

This course defines struggling readers and how to assist those in middle to high school utilizing computer/ internet based software.

This course discusses video game usage as a foundation to improve vocabulary. Participant will receive instruction in how to utilize video games to improve vocabulary.

 

6004    Vocabulary- Basis of reading and writing*

This course discusses vocabulary acquisition. A normal high school student should have acquired 50,000 words by 10th grade to be successful on standardized exams.

This course discusses how to survive the difficult economy and the problems that economy brings. It is based on the book of the same title. Books are available for purchase to distribute to participants.

This course discusses how to use any textbook to determine what your child should be studying to achieve great success.
